Exposed Communities: Ambler
The project examines how communities in the Philadelphia region face unique environmental challenges and aims to address this issue as it pertains to public and environmental health assessment in selected Philadelphia neighborhoods, yielding more tailored public and health-policy interventions that coordinate with actual needs of communities. The project makes visible the life experiences of target communities and provides environmental history and public policy researchers the opportunity to work with residents to create living histories of their neighborhoods. In this particular case, we are working with researchers from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania to recreate exposure routes from occupational and incidental exposures to asbestos in the neighborhoods of West and South Ambler.
